Northern Michigan Anime Convention announces guests
Traverse City, MI (April 15, 2010) – The Northern Michigan Anime Convention has announced Vic Mignogna, Chris Patton, and music guest Year 200X as special guest for their August 7th and 8th, 2010 convention in Traverse City, MI at the campus of Northwestern Michigan College.
The convention will host special guests from the anime industry, feature anime screenings during both days of the event, and a concert on Saturday evening.
Well-known voice actor Mignogna is best known for his role as the voice of Edward Elric in the anime Fullmetal Alchemist, which was a nationwide hit when it aired on the Cartoon Network's adult cartoon block, Adult Swim. Vic will be performing a concert at this year's convention where he will showcase a mix of his favorite anime songs and personal creations.
Voice actor Chris Patton will be joining the guest roster this year. He is known for such roles as Sousuke Sagara in Fullmetal Panic, and as the character Greed in Fullmetal Alchemist.
Year 200X is a heavy metal game cover band based out of Lansing, MI. They play a number of video game classic themes including but not limited to Mega Man, Contra, and Metal Gear. The band has even been featured in the June 2006 issue of Nintendo Power. This will be their first appearance at a Japanese Anime Convention. www.year200xband.com
Planned events at NMACon include cosplay contests, video game tournaments, special guest panels, the Mad Hatter Tea Party, and Cosplay Arena.
The event cost will be $25 to attend for both days of festivities or $15 for just one day.

Anime is a type of cartoon from Japan, typically with more grown-up themes, often based on manga books. Manga is the written and drawn counterpart to anime and can be likened to comic books for older readers.
